Happy Table with Assorted Plate Stack - Strawberry, Amber Madrid and Spring Blossom

Blogging is a way for readers to learn more about our business, our products, and who we are as individuals who make up the Jane and Lizzee team. When I say I love dishes, I enjoy creating them and using them in my own home, it is the honest truth. This post gives a peek at who I am as a person and how I truly use the items we create in my home.

This past Saturday, after spending the day reorganizing and cleaning my home, it seemed only fitting to prepare a quick table to share dinner with my husband, Eric. All day, I kept thinking of my grandmother and mother. I sure wish I could pick up the phone and call them, but unfortunately, I just don’t have the phone number to heaven.

July 11th would have been my grandmother, Jane Faust Carter’s, birthday. She would have been 119 years old. I see her impact on my life daily, and I am so thankful for all the life lessons she shared.

While packing away other dishes this past Saturday, I saw the container holding my grandmother’s classic 1970s Spring Blossom Green by Corelle.  This design by Corelle was also commonly referred to as the Crazy Daisy pattern.  Many meals were served on those dishes, and I have long wanted to create a table using the Spring Blossom pieces. I had planned to combine them with strawberry-themed pieces for a happy table, and this past Saturday turned out to be the perfect day.

I was able to quickly gather everything together. The glass jar and candle holder with the strawberry design are vintage Westmoreland pieces. I fondly remember purchasing them with my mother as a Mother’s Day gift for my grandmother. My grandmother’s favorite color was red, and her kitchen was decorated in red and white. Those two Westmoreland pieces were proudly displayed in her kitchen for many years.

For this table I pulled red strawberry-themed bread and butter plates I had designed, Federal Glass Amber Tone “Madrid” depression era salad plates, and vintage Spring Blossom dinner plates to create the perfect stack. These strawberry plates were pieces I designed several years ago, and I am happy to share them online now. They are great for everyday life as well as special events. Each plate is dishwasher and microwave safe, hand decorated, and kiln fired in our studio on a lovely white porcelain plate body. Also available from Jane and Lizzee are these adorable Strawberry salt and pepper shakers which are a great addition to any table. To complete the table, I selected green-toned linens, “Dancing Flower” flatware by Reed and Barton, and red-bottomed glassware from Dollar Tree. What a combination of brands!  The pieces in a tablescape all do not have to be expensive or highly collectible the pieces need to be items you like, love, treasure and enjoy.

My Saturday ended with a lovely dinner served on a happy table. And happy tables are what tablescaping is all about. Tablescaping makes an ordinary meal something to celebrate and EnJOY!
