Celebrating 250 Years of Freedom

What a wonderful day to be blessed to witness—the 250th celebration of the founding of the United States of America. I feel so fortunate to celebrate my freedom today. I do not take for granted the freedom I have as an American citizen. I am blessed, and may God continue to bless the USA.

In addition to creating tablescapes, I have a wide variety of interests, including genealogy. Through my genealogy research, I have found eight Revolutionary War patriots in my family line, with patriots on both my maternal and paternal sides. Each of these eight men came from a different background. Three were not even born in the colonies—one was born in Canada, one in France, and one in Ireland. Yet they all shared the same goal: freedom for future generations. It is for that freedom that I give thanks today.

Today’s table was created with a sense of lightheartedness as I remembered sweet childhood memories from 1976, the 200th anniversary of our nation. Life certainly looks different 50 years later. I miss the loved ones who made 1976 so special—my parents, grandmothers, aunts, and uncles. As I reflected on that day, I remembered the memories created by my mother and father: flying the American flag at the front door, decorating with red, white, and blue striped crepe paper streamers, watching fireworks, and sharing barbecue with family and friends.

Today, I celebrated in a similar fashion with my husband, my sister Maree DeBuse, family, and friends. I created this table in my home with gratitude, joy, and a touch of nostalgia. I especially love the American flag salad plates and the Anything Dish, which also makes a wonderful wine coaster. I really do use the items offered on our site in my own home.

What a blessing it is to celebrate with the people I love in 2026. What a blessing to witness this day and celebrate 250 years of the USA. God bless the USA!
