A Seafood Story in Our Own Family

A Seafood Story in Our Own Family

For our family, this connection is personal.

During the 1930s and 1940s, our grandfather, Joseph DeBuse, and his brother, Ernest DeBuse, operated a fish and seafood market here in our hometown of New Iberia, Louisiana, shipping fish and seafood products to parts of the United States that, at the time, felt a great distance from home. The market remained in operation until both men passed away at relatively young ages.

Long before ordering products from across the country became an everyday convenience, Joseph and Ernest were helping bring seafood to customers far beyond their local community. Although their lives were cut short, their work remains a meaningful part of our family history and a reminder that Louisiana’s seafood traditions have long reached beyond our own tables.

Remembering our grandfather Joseph and our great-uncle Ernest makes this celebration especially meaningful to us. Today, our family business carries that same appreciation for hard work, thoughtful service, and the traditions that connect us.

From Our New Iberia Studio to Your Table

At Jane & Lizzee, our products are all hand decorated and kiln fired in our studio in New Iberia, Louisiana. Each piece reflects our love for the place we call home and the meals that bring people together.

Our seafood dishes are perfect for celebrating special occasions when seafood is served—or simply making everyday meals feel special. The pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe perfect for your busy lives.

Picture a birthday dinner featuring a favorite shrimp recipe, a holiday gathering with seafood gumbo, or a quiet supper of freshly prepared fish. A thoughtfully chosen dish adds another layer of enjoyment to the meal, celebrating both what is served and the people sharing it.

You do not have to wait for a holiday to set a beautiful table. Sometimes, a favorite recipe and a dish you love are all the occasion you need.

Bring a Little Louisiana to the Table

National Seafood Month offers a wonderful reason to revisit a family recipe, try something new, or invite someone over for supper.

Visit a local seafood market and ask about Louisiana seafood. Share the story behind a treasured family dish. Set the table with pieces that reflect your personality and your love of home.

Our seafood dishes also make thoughtful gifts for cooks, seafood lovers, and anyone with a soft spot for Louisiana and coast living. They bring a little of our New Iberia studio to kitchens and tables wherever they find a home.

This October, we are celebrating the fishermen, markets, family businesses, and home cooks who make Louisiana seafood such an important part of our lives—and the memories created when everyone gathers to enjoy it.

Explore our Louisiana Seafood Collection and Seafood Dinnerware Collection to find a special piece for your next seafood supper. Hand decorated and kiln fired in our studio in New Iberia, Louisiana, our seafood dishes are perfect for celebrating special occasions and making every day special.
